Dominic Pinkney

CEO

I know that volunteering changes the world every day. A person giving up just a little bit of their precious time to help another person, community organisation or their local street may not seem like much, but when added together with all the other people doing similar things it makes our communities and societies stronger, more resilient and happier places to live. Volunteering makes our communities and our world better places and I am privileged to work in an organisation that encourages more volunteering to take place through making it easier for those who want to volunteer to find those organisations, groups and initiatives who really need volunteers.

Shafia Begum

Best Practice Manager

I started working at Volunteer Centre Camden in September 2019 as Best Practice Manager and I really enjoy supporting volunteer managers with anything and everything to do with volunteer management. I was born in Camden and have lived here all my life I’m passionate about the area and community. I’ve supported/managed volunteers for over 10 years and it’s great to be able to share what I’ve learnt. I’m also a trustee at Women and Health, a small women’s charity in Camden. One of the lovely things about working at VCC is how agile we are as a team. We try to match our services to the needs of those we work with and this has been particularly evident in how we supported with Covid-19 efforts, including the mobilisation of volunteers, best practice guidance and tailored advice to organisations that needed it.

Raquel Castela

Corporate Engagement Manager

I joined the VCC in 2019 as a Corporate Engagement Manager. I work directly with businesses based in Camden to develop their social engagement through volunteering projects as a team. One of my favourite aspects of my job is to work alongside with the charity organisations to make their projects come to life in the most creative way possible. I am also an actor and passionate about theatre and film. Outside work I run Rcreatives – a theatre company which supports emerging artists to create their own work and focuses on producing plays which addresses social issues. Volunteering is one of the acts which make us human, bringing out the best in each of us.
