A big hello to two new members of staff who have recently joined the Volunteer Centre Camden team.
Raquel joined us in the summer, and she is our Corporate Engagement Manager. She looks after Team UP, our service which matches businesses with local organisations who need a bit of help doing something. This could be a team challenge to deliver an employment workshop, or to tidy and maintain a community garden or to use your skills, such as producing a marketing strategy for an organisation to get their message to a wider (or more targeted audience) or perhaps developing a business development plan. In fact, there’s many things that you could do.
Good to know: Raquel is recruiting Office Assistants (to help her prepare for team challenges) as well as a Video Editor (to edit footage that she has taken of the volunteering so far… so we can attract more people to take part).

Best Practice and Volunteering Services
Shafia joined us just last month, and she is our Best Practice Manager. Shafia gives one-to-one best practice support to organisations via Best Practice Plus so you can involve volunteers in your work effectively, safely and in a way that benefits your organisation and the volunteer. Win – win!
Shafia also manages our brokerage service, which matches people who want to volunteer with organisations looking for volunteers in Camden. This includes promoting trusteeship to prospective volunteers, matching people with skills to organisations who could use those skills as well as working with organisations to help them recruit a more diverse range of people to their management boards and provide resources that assist with strategic planning. She’s also the person to get in touch with if you would like Volunteer Centre Camden to attend your event.
Did you know Best Practice Plus is now able to offer free services for Camden non-profits which have a turnover of less than £150K per year, and that this includes 1-1 support as well as events? Please note, there is a limit of two free places per organisation at each event (forums, workshops, masterclasses). With this in mind, we have just announced dates for our 2019/20 volunteer managers forums, which are the perfect opportunity for peer learning and networking. Our forums are open to volunteer managers from everywhere, and follow the unconference format, in other words… you decide what we are going to talk about on the day. We are also getting enquiries about Christmas and Hanukkah volunteering roles. We will publish our annual round up of seasonal volunteering roles in the next few weeks. We are also planning our annual Volunteering Advent Calendar which highlights one volunteering a role each day from 1st-24th December. With this in mind, make sure you let us know about your roles by adding them to our website now.
And finally, it may be of interest to know that Shafia is recruiting Matchmakers, the team of volunteers who help people find their perfect volunteering roles in Camden.
