We are currently recruiting Volunteering Champions; people who want to give talks about their volunteering to inspire others to get involved.
We are offering a two-day training programme in public speaking and Volunteer Centre Camden and our services.

- Training in public speaking and basic volunteer brokerage. This will increase your ability to deal with general volunteering enquiries, as well as improve transferable skills.
- Chance to meet other volunteers in Camden, to network and share experiences.
- New experience to add to your cv
What will organisations gain?
- A chance to promote your volunteering roles and your organisation in Camden
- Free training for your volunteers
What is the project about?
Volunteer Centre Camden receives many requests for someone to talk to people in Camden about volunteering. We do this where possible, but firmly believe that the best people to promote volunteering, are people who volunteer themselves.
We are looking to train 14 people who already volunteer in Camden. The training will be delivered over 2 days. 1½ days will be spent on presentation skills, the remaining time will be used to give a brief overview designed to equip participants with the skills to answer general questions about volunteering in any organisation.
In return for the training we will ask volunteers to commit to delivering up to 4 presentations to small groups of people in Camden. These will be people who want to find out more about volunteering. This will also be an opportunity to promote volunteering opportunities within your organisation. There will also be the scope to attend open days, community fairs etc to promote volunteering with your organisation and volunteering more generally. Volunteer Centre Camden will pay travel expenses for the training days and presentation days. Volunteers will be asked to work within our equalities policy, and to feedback issues raised during discussions and details of people interested in volunteering to Volunteer Centre Camden. Most of the events people will be asked to attend will be during the working week. With some exceptions!
Training will be delivered on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th November at Swiss Cottage Library. Volunteers wishing to apply to become Volunteering Champions should send an email to Catherine@volunteercentrecamden.org.uk with a day-time phone number). The applicants supervisor or volunteer coordinator will be asked to confirm that they volunteer, are reliable, and that they are happy for the applicant to represent their organisation. Volunteers will need to complete both days of training. Successful applicants will be informed 2 weeks before the training takes place.
We are seeking a diverse group of volunteers; representing all sections of the community; people who volunteer in voluntary, community and statutory sectors, in a variety of volunteering roles, including trusteeship, admin roles time bankers and many more.
