Well, hello there! Volunteering roles are coming in thick and fast, so many that we thought we’d do a round up of what’s on offer in Camden and the local area.
Kith & Kids is looking for Autism Summer Camp Volunteers (Sunday 18th-Sunday 25th August) to support one of their members with a learning disability or autism for the duration of the annual 8 days’ residential summer camp. You’ll support and encourage them to take part in lots of exciting activities such as; camp fires, treasure trails, swimming, night time activities, day trips to the seaside and much more. You’ll also help their members with their day-to-day routines and preparing meals. Males are especially welcome!
Drummond Street is a truly unique cultural asset to Camden, and the Drummond Street Festival is looking for Events Assistants to help with their one-day outdoor event on Thursday 1st August, 11.30am-6pm. The festival is open to everyone to attend and will be a celebration with food, fun and entertainment. Prudential RideLondon-Surrey takes place on Sunday 4th August. Prostate Cancer UK is looking for Cheer Volunteers to cheer on cyclists at various cheer points along the route, and for enthusiastic and sociable Post Race Volunteers to ensure their after party runs smoothly.
Good Gym is looking for Runners to do good while getting and keeping fit. Runs take place on Wednesday at 6.45pm at Somers Town Community Centre, and finish at 8.30pm. evening. They clear land for community gardens, move rubble, paint play equipment, chop back overgrown gardens and tidy community centres all over Camden. In the presence of a qualified trainer our activities are fun, social and open to all abilities.
KEEN London is looking for Coaches to support free weekly sports and games sessions for children and young adults with a wide range of disabilities – our athletes. These sessions are tons of fun for the athletes but they also provide a much needed respite opportunity for their caregivers.
Heath Hands is looking for Wildlife Interpreters to share their knowledge and passion for nature with others and help people discover more about the Heath’s amazing wildlife and habitats. All of this is made possible through Wild about Hampstead Heath, (WaHH) their volunteer-led learning programme, engaging visitors and helping them make lasting connections to nature. And for Conservation Volunteers who take part in practical outdoor gardening and sessions across the green spaces of Hampstead Heath.
TCV (The Conservation Volunteers) runs a number of Green Gym in Camden – a way for people to come together, get fit and make the borough greener and more lovely for people and wildlife alike. Belsize and Adelaide Green Gym runs every Sunday from 11am to 2pm. Camden Green Gym runs runs every Tuesday and Thursday from 10.45am to 2pm across 25 local green space. Oasis Garden Green Gym takes place every Saturday from 10am to 1pm. And West Hampstead Green Gym runs on Fridays.
The Camden Society is looking for Walking Group Volunteers for their walking group for people with learning disabilities and/or mental health conditions. The walking group targets those who are seeking light physical activity whilst making some new friends and explores both green and urban spaces all over London.
Castlehaven Community Association is looking for Community Gardeners to come together and garden at the Castlehaven Open Space every Wednesday 10.30am-2.30pm.
CleanupUK is looking for Community Clean Up Group Organisers to improve their local area. Litter picking is a great community activity for everyone to get involved with, people socialise and meet their neighbours, it provides gentle exercise and make a difference to the environment. Organising cleanups, develops leadership skills, confidence and event management.
Holborn Community Association is looking for Walk Leaders to help older people in the local community to get active and healthy. You will be involved in all aspects of the walks from planning the routes and managing the registration to ensuring walks are welcoming, friendly, enjoyable and safe.
Lauderdale House is a beautiful historic house which operates as a buzzy Arts and Education centre at the edge of Waterlow Park in Highgate. They have recently completed a major refurbishment, and are recruiting for a number of roles including Gallery Stewards / Receptionists, to provide a warm welcome and to answer enquiries from visitors.
Value You is looking for Community Champions to help run their volunteer recognition scheme in Camden. This role involves networking with local charities and businesses to help promote the reward scheme for people who volunteer across London.
Creative Support is looking for confident and enthusiastic Activity Assistants who, with the support of staff, would be happy to lead a weekly group based around games or crafts. A creative nature is desirable, but not necessary, as long as you’re happy to make the evening fun for the service users.
CAMERA – Emergency Volunteer Team is hosted by Volunteer Centre Camden and Volunteer Centre Hammersmith & Fulham and we are looking for people who would like to respond in the event of an emergency across the two boroughs. Camden Council is looking for Families For Life: Community Champions to talk to parents in the local community and provide them with information about families for life programmes. Promote the benefits of healthy weight, healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. Encourage parents to attend the Families for Life programmes. Understand and offer support to overcome the barriers to the use of Families for Life programmes and other local services from a parent or guardian’s point of view.

Solace Women’s Aid is recruiting for a number of volunteering roles across North London to provide support to women and girls age 13+ who have experienced any form of sexual violence at any time in their lives. The deadline for all of these roles is Friday 2nd August.
Eye Heroes is the UK’s first child-led campaign to fight avoidable blindness. They are looking for Workshop Volunteers to train children aged 8-12 through interactive workshops in schools to become eye health champions, and inform adults in their communities about eye health and the benefits of regular eye tests.
Open House is London’s largest festival of architecture and design where over 800 buildings across London open their doors to the public for free. They are currently recruiting Festival Assistants to help at Open House this year, on Saturday 21st September 2019 – Sunday 22nd September 2019.
The London Design Festival takes place 14th-22nd September. With over 400 events taking place across London and an anticipated audience in the hundreds-of-thousands, the London Design Festival relies on volunteers to support Festival activity, help Festival visitors at events, and assist with a range of other tasks through the busy Festival period.
