Well, hello there! Volunteering roles are coming in thick and fast, so many that we thought we’d do a round up of what’s new in Camden and the local area.
Rock’n’Roll Rescue Charity Shop in Camden Town is looking for Shop Volunteers to help with everything from sorting donations, dressing the shop front and manning the till.
The British Museum is looking for eight enthusiastic and motivated young people (ages 16-24) from London to become Take Part Volunteers which aims to increase employability of the volunteers and will give an invaluable behind the scenes exposure to museums as workplaces.
Elfrida Rathbone Camden is looking for Employment Mentors / Buddies to make a real difference to the life of a person with a learning disability. They are looking for confident, motivated people to work alongside ERC in ensuring equal access to employment for people with learning disabilities. Training and support will be provided.
Trailblazers Mentoring works with young offenders leaving custody, helping them to address offending behaviour and barriers to reducing reoffending, and ensuring that they are supported into housing and education, employment, or training. They are looking for a Treasurer to supervise their finances.
King’s Cross Story Palace is a two-year Heritage Lottery Fund project led by Historypin and the Building Exploratory. They aim to create a community-led history of the King’s Cross area over the past 100 years. They are looking for volunteers for a number of roles including Administration and Evaluation Volunteers, Community Story Gathering Volunteers, and Research Volunteers.
Iris Theatre in Covent Garden Iris Theatre was created in 2007 to produce work at the world-famous St. Paul’s Church in Covent Garden. As a charity, they rely on volunteers to help make their shows happen. Each year their volunteers bring energy, commitment and life to their projects and play an important part in their unique work. They are recruiting for two roles, Front of House / Box Office Volunteers and Production Assistants for Hansel and Gretel.
Lauderdale House is a beautiful historic house which operates as a buzzy Arts and Education centre at the edge of Waterlow Park in Highgate. They have recently completed a major refurbishment, and are recruiting for a number of roles including Gallery Stewards / Receptionists, to answer enquiries from visitors, Educational Researchers to research the history of Lauderdale House and develop resources for educational groups, Marketing Assistants to market the learning activities that take place at Lauderdale House and School Greeters / Explainers and Lunchtime Support to support with Primary and Secondary School visits on an ad-hoc basis.
Camden Adult Community Learning Team is looking for IT Volunteers to support residents to use computers to develop computer skills, access services and information as well as keeping in touch with friends and family and for leisure. Solace Women’s Aid is recruiting North London Rape Crisis Volunteers to provide support to women and girls age 13+ who have experienced any form of sexual violence at any time in their lives. You will need to attend a ten-week training course on Fridays from 15th September to 17th October, and to commit to 12 months post training.
Eye Heroes is the UK’s first child-led campaign to fight avoidable blindness. They are looking for Workshop Volunteers to train children aged 8-12 through interactive workshops in schools to become eye health champions, and inform adults in their communities about eye health and the benefits of regular eye tests.
