In July and August 2017, London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will light up for a spectacular summer of World Athletics. London 2017 is the first time that the IAAF World Championships and the World ParaAthletics Championships will be held in the same summer, in the same city.
London 2017 will be the biggest event to be staged in the Olympic Stadium since the Olympic and Paralympic Games – with over 2,000 athletes from over 200 nations competing over 17 days of action.
This is what London 2017 says about the volunteering role:
We’re delighted to be providing the volunteer programme, ‘Runners’, in partnership with London 2017. Up to 4,000 volunteers will be at the heart of the Championships, working in The Stadium, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and welcoming visitors across London.
“Volunteering is a wonderful and rewarding way to make a real difference in our great city. As well as building stronger communities and helping people to get to know and help their neighbours, it makes us a friendlier and more welcoming place to live in and visit. I’m delighted that Team London Ambassadors will be leading the way in giving our London 2017 visitors a very warm welcome, and ensuring everyone has an enjoyable time at the games and makes the most of what the capital has to offer.“ Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London.
Do you want to be a part of the event? Let us know that you’d like to be a ‘Runner’ from today and the application form will be sent in early Autumn 2016. Selection centres will take place before the end of 2016, with successful ‘Runners’ confirmed in early 2017.
