What an amazing day of learning that we have lined up for volunteer managers everywhere.
Join us for our next Best Practice Plus volunteer management workshop (which includes lunch).
Who: The workshop, ‘Broadening the Appeal of Your Volunteering Programme’, will be delivered by Rupal Karia and Sheila Norris from Volunteer Centre Camden – who have more than 24 years’ volunteer management experience between them.
What: Is your organisation reflective of the community it supports? For an increasing number of local organisations the answer to this is no, and now many have funding targets to increase the diversity of their volunteer team. This could include anything from age, gender, ethnicity, religion, economic background, work status, disability and the list goes on!
Many volunteers are recruited by word of mouth by people they know. This is an effective way of recruiting volunteers, but can this also result in a homogenous set of volunteers. But there are other reasons why this could be the case…
In one morning, this workshop will cover:
- Identifying the reasons why your volunteers are not as diverse as they could be
- Practical things you can do to to broaden your appeal and make sure your organisation is welcoming to all
The workshop will be interactive and will feature exercises which you will explore in small groups. We encourage participants to bring their own examples of diversifying your volunteering programme so that this course is as relevant to you as possible. (There will also be a bit of prep work to be done before the day of the course.)
By the end of the workshop you will have a personalised action plan, so will be more likely to carry through with the learning from the day. Hurrah.
