Just Launched!
Online volunteering portal Time to Spare has just added a new feature for furloughed charity workers (including volunteer managers) to use their skills as volunteers: https://help.timetospare.com/furlough-swap
Why?
To ensure their sustainability many charities have had to furlough skilled and experienced staff (including volunteer managers) meaning they are not able to do any work for their employer. We understand that many of these staff would like to quickly find opportunities elsewhere to support other charities potentially struggling, both in responding to the current crisis, and in ensuring their own success and sustainability. Furlough Go has been set up to enable charities and community groups to connect with and involve these skilled and experienced furloughed staff as volunteers.
Dominic Pinkney, CEO of Volunteer Centre Camden says ‘This is a fantastic new scheme that will enable furloughed staff to utilise their great skills and experience to support communities through this crisis.’
How will it work?
Time to Spare is building a network of Furloughed charity staff, who want to support other organisations at this challenging time. They are working with the voluntary and community sector, as well as adult social care, public health and the NHS to support and mobilise volunteers to where there is the greatest need.
What will happen next?
Time to Spare will work with its charity partners (including Volunteer Centre Camden) to use this information to coordinate your offers of support. Please bear with them whilst they signpost and match your interest to where you can make the most difference
Keep in mind: This portal is brand brand new so if anyone has any issues using it please let us know so the Time to Spare team can fix it. Thanks!
