Welcome to Dementia Awareness Week 2016!
According to Alzheimers Society dementia is:
‘…a set of symptoms that may include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. Dementia is caused when the brain is damaged by diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease or a series of strokes. Dementia is progressive, which means the symptoms will gradually get worse.’
And with that in mind, there are also a number of ways that you can help people with dementia in Camden by volunteering in Camden (and a bit beyond).
Age UK Camden is recruiting Dementia Befrienders and Dementia Advisers. And Alzheimers Society is also recruiting Side by Side Volunteers in nearby Islington. And you can apply for all of these roles on the links, which will take you to our online search tool called Volunteer Connect.
