Congratulations and welcome to Jessica Badley, who has just become our new Chair.
She has been with us for two years now as a board of trustees member, and most recently was Vice Chair to the board.
Here’s a bit more info about Jessica:
What volunteering have you been involved with and why did it appeal?
Various things- a lot of volunteering with children and families, including children with special educational needs, and tutoring, as well as helping with historical conservation projects. I volunteer for things that I want to find out more about, or things I am interested in.
What is your professional background and key experiences?
I’m the Operations Manager for a Children’s Centre in Southwark, and my background is in management, including business planning and strategy.
To what extent did your answer to the first question influence your career?
A huge amount- I started volunteering in a SEN school when I was still at school, and I found working with the children and parents both challenging and very rewarding. I carried on working with children throughout university and found that I could combine business and management with working with children and families.
What are the key things that you bring to Volunteer Centre Camden?
Knowledge of working with and managing a small team, business planning and fundraising.
What got you into volunteering in the first place?
Wanting to do something useful in my spare time, and wanting to be part of my local community.
Tell me something about you that none of the other trustees or staff will know about you…
I can fly (very small 2 seater) planes, and would love to be able to fly a helicopter….
Many thanks to Jessica for taking on this role, and we look forward to working with her in the future.
